Kaupe should block one "wave" of any skill that deals physical damage. (IE: All damage from Sonic blow, All damage from Clashing Spiral...I don't think ther are any physical damage skills that work like Lord of Vermillion though) this came to my attention today when I noticed that my soul linker in eAthena could not dodge a Kasa's Clashing Spiral attack with Kaupe.
Now this is speaking from personal experience on iRO, but my first trip into Thor's Volcano after iRO (Sakray) got 11.2, was with a party of comprised of me (Minstrel) High Priest, High wizard, and a Soul Linker (Esma). The party itself was kinda nubby. All floating mid 80s to around early 90s. The soul linker was our tank using Kaupe to dodge Clashing Spiral and Fire Breath.
