well i was taking a look at
this topic and then it come to my mind, why not change the getitem2 command to use the number especified in MAX_REFINE? the same need to be aplied for @item2 atcommand, if you dont got what i'm trying to say, take a look at the @refine command:
refine = cap_value(refine, -MAX_REFINE, MAX_REFINE);
