_M / _F shouldn't allow the creation of user names lower than 4 characters or however many minimum requirement is because afterwards these accounts would not be able to log in.

Hmm, I guess there should be a configuration setting for them to set? Some clients can be hex'd to disable the minimum 4 characters in the username.
