As a follow up to [bug=5149].
There are still issues with this script. The effect is shown for a second because it is displayed right before the NPC is disabled (Which is immediately as the script is activated). Only the first 4 (Set 1) of the stairs semi-works. Beyond that the rest of the stairs break.
Suggestions:
When the hidden NPCs are enabled they need to show the effects. When they are disabled they need to just show as nothing (Probably would be best to set the cells as not walkable). If the player touches anything outside of the circles they will be warped to the first floor (This should follow the same mechanic as the pit falls from the original Swordsman quest).
I'll poke around with it tomorrow when I get some free time unless someone beats me to it.
