Rental items can be placed in to storage and do not expire when the allocated time for the item TO expire is reached unless you take it out and relog. In essence, you can keep a rental item forever simply by placing it back in to storage each time you log out, then pull it out when you log back in, in a never ending cycle.

Rental items are rental items. Just because they're in storage, doesnt mean their rental period should halt. Also, jTynne, does it work in guild storage too?

Set an ETC item as a rental item, make sure there's no restriction on moving it into storage. Leave it in storage past the rental expiry time, then take it out, go around using it, then put it back into storage before you log out.

Correct; There should be a fail-proof that'll expire the items when they're meant to be, however. I have Rein of Mounts on iRO and can move it between characters via storage on Valkyrie. =X It's rental, so..
